The European Parliament adopted on 27th of March a new Directive, which considerably improves health conditions for construction workers by obliging cement producers to neutralise dangerous chromium VI compounds in cement. Chromium VI in cement induces sensitisation and causes a serious allergic dermatitis, wide-spread professional diseases among construction workers. Paul Lannoye, Green Member of the Environment Committee authored the report.
