EPHA moves offices
On 5 April 2004, the EPHA Secretariat moved to a new office in the European quarter of Brussels. EPHA members are welcome to visit the office and talk to the team. Please update your mailing lists with our new address:

Bridging the Gap
Tamsin Rose particated in the pre-meeting for speakers and moderators for the ’Bridging the Gap’ conference being organised by Eurocare in Warsaw in June 2004.
EU Open Forum
EPHA participated in the steering committees for the EU Open Forum on 17 May 2004 and for a Dutch Presidency conference on health and the internal market to be held in the Hague on 7-9 September 2004.
General Assembly of the Social Platform
Lara Garrido-Herrero participated in the General Assembly of the Social Platform on 23rd April 2004.
On this day the accounts and annual report of 2003 were approved, a statement of values was adopted, it was decided to revise the membership criteria and fees, a declaration on Enlargement was voted and one new organisation was acepted as associate member of the Social Platform: the European Roma Information Office.
The meeting also included a debate on the Lisbon Process with Theo Bouwmann MEP.
Reception with representatives of the Turkish Health Ministry
Lara Garrido-Herrero attended a discussion organised in Brussels with representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Health on 31 March 2004.
It was a forum for an informal discussion on various aspects related to the European Health Policy, the main problems in the health sector in Turkey and Turkey’s relations with the EU in the context of the forthcoming Enlargement.
E-health awards
Tamsin Rose worked as an independent evaluator for projects submitted to the European Commission e-health awards. The winners of the awards will be announced at the e-health Ministerial conference in Cork in May 2004.
Patient Mobility Process
Tamsin Rose made a presentation the Patient Mobility process and ran a workshop on EU funding mechanisms at the ’Effective Advocacy for Health’ seminar organised in Slovenia on 22-23 April 2004. The seminar was organised by the Open Society Institute network with 80 participants from the CEE and SEE countries.
Presentation on EPHA’s activities
During the month of April, Tamsin Rose met a representative from the city of Kuopio (Eastern Finland) and some representatives of the Norwegian Association of Heart and Lung Patients (LHL) to introduce them to EPHA’s activities.
LHL showed interest in joining EPHA.
Francesco Longu met a student from the College d’Europe to talk about EPHA’s role as a representative of health NGOs in the civil dialogue with DG Trade.
