Mission Statement
The Romanian Association Against AIDS (ARAS) is a national, non-governmental, apolitical and humanitarian organization whose major purpose is to stop the AIDS epidemics through programs of education, information, and through the social services development for the people living with AIDS.
Presentation of the Organization
ARAS was founded in Bucharest, 1992 by a group of young people, mostly students of different study profiles, alarmed at the growing threat posed by AIDS in Romania and by the human, social, economic and political tragedies that can be brought about by lack of importance and priority given to AIDS prevention. Starting from this nucleus of young enthusiastic volunteers, the association evolved into an organization based on professionalism, commitment and dedication. ARAS has a Central Office in Bucharest and branches in Constanta, Piatra Neamt, Iasi, Craiova, Timisoara and Bacau. The Constanta branch was open in 1993. Since then the employees and volunteers developed many projects regarding HIV/AIDS epidemics.
